Job tasks
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of methods, procedures, and production aids that ensure a low risk environment
  • Work with plant leadership team and site HSE Manager to ensure compliance with all safety processes
  • Insure that the proper process controls and documentation are in place to consistently deliver high quality products
  • Development of processes, operation sequence, workplace layout, Lean pull system based material and information flow to minimize total production lead time
  • Creation of standard work methods and visual management systems that minimize indirect labor and maximize direct labor to deliver sustained improvement to manufacturing cost structures.  Ensure proper process documentation and controls are in place including the establishment of production rates and production/assembly aids
  • Provide engineering support to operations in terms of MTBF/MTTR improvement, problem solving, equipment updating, process improvements, operator training, and Continuous Improvement workshops
  • Collaboratively work with the Program Management and Design Engineering teams to develop competitive quotes, flawlessly launch and then continuously improve new products and processes.  Leverage new technologies into the operation to reduce cost and eliminate process variation
  • Is the Change Management Champion for the plant ensuring ECOs, PCOs, and supplier changes are coordinated and follow standard change management procedure. 
  • Provide candid and timely feedback to employees regarding their performance, strengths, and development needs. Implement a succession and development plan for the Engineering staff
  • Provide key input to the development of the site’s strategic business plan and capital plan.  Identify and track key measurable to support site business plan goals
  • Sets the example and establishes the expectation regarding required personal protection equipment and safe work practices
  • Other duties as assigned
Job requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering (ME/EE/IE preferred), Operations Management or related field
  • Three to five (3 – 5) years of experience directly managing people
  • Seven to ten (7 - 10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a blended experience base in both Engineering and Operations assignments
  • Proven track record of strong leadership and managerial skills. Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management and outside sources
  • Effectively delegate and work collaboratively with other functional departments
  • Strong background in lean manufacturing. A passion and ability to truly engage people at all levels of an organization. A balanced focus between processes and systems as well as results
  • Proficient knowledge of ERP/MRP systems preferred
  • Previous experience in automotive electronics, plastics, and electronic assembly preferred
